The seven rules of site design

  1. The web is for reaching out to people.
  2. Keep your Web pages lean and clean.
  3. Don't make your visitors jump through hoops.
  4. Never make an unnecessary link.
  5. Always group necessary items together.
  6. If you can give visitors an option, do so.
  7. It's your Web site. It's your vision. Do it your way.

Web Site Design Tips

  • Make your content as useful as possible.
  • Use appealing graphics, but make sure that they support the content.
  • Give your pages a consistent appearance.
  • Install a search feature.
  • Update your pages often so that people have a reason to return frequently.
  • Stick to your topic.
  • Know your audience and strive to please them.

  • Think collectively: A strategy used by many eBay sellers is to buy several items and resell them as a group-for example, a gift basket of imported cookies. The key to success here is in the choice of goods and in the presentation, particularly because these items are often purchased as gifts for others.

While it may seem conterintuitive, sales tractions on eBay tend to be more personal, and customers expect a heightened level of service and attention. However, the rewards from these personal interactions can be great, because those interactions lead to trust- and trust leads to increased business.

As you persue eBay stores and online auctions, you will see this personal touch over and over. Keep in mind that eBay is a global marketplace where many sellers have access to similar merchandise. When prices are similar, buyers rely on personal and sometimes intangible factors to distinguish among sellers......

From top to bottem, each eBay business is a unique mix of branding and personal indentity. When in doubt as to what course to take with your eBay business, it's always best to choose the route that's most comfortable for your personality.

Your choices may not always lead to short-term profits, but letting your business reflect who you are is more likely to provide personal satisfaction, steady income, and longevity as a business.

8.5 Blogging (Weblogging)

The Internet offers the opportunities for individuals to publish on the Web using a technology known as Weblogging, or blogging,

A blog is a personal Web site, open to public, in which the owner expresses his or her feelings or opinions.

Many types of blogs are available. According to Yap (2006), the most common types of blogs are professional blogs, which focus on professions, job aspects, and career building; personal blogs; topical blogs; business blogs, which are discussions about business and/or the stock market...

There were more than 1.6 million daily postings (or 66,600 hourly postings) on the blogosphere as of June 2006 (Sifry 2006).

Datta (2006) suggests seven principles for building effective blogs:

1.Focus intently on a narrow niche, ideally one whose audience has a predilection for high-margin products.

部落格經濟 滑鼠點出大生意

失業率不斷創下新高,在這波景氣寒流裡,一群沒有固定雇主的部落客卻錢潮滾滾。他們靠著努力與人氣,推薦速食、保養品、3C、旅遊行程,「什麼都賣,什麼都不奇怪」,甚至出現幾位年營收數百萬的「百萬部落客」。
「部落格經濟」為何大行其道?錢潮背後又有哪些怪象與爭議?本報調查採訪室特別深入探討。

十月底,麥當勞推出漢堡新產品,電視強力曝光王力宏的代言廣告;同一時間,三位知名部落客受邀試吃,各在部落格上撰文推薦,網路廣告代理商也募集寫手,數以百計的部落客寫下該款漢堡的食記,於是,網路充斥著「意想不到的美味」等讚美文章。

出於反感,美食部落客「迴紋針」自掏腰包試吃,並寫了一篇反推薦文章,因為她不希望該款漢堡搜尋結果的前幾頁,隨處可見公關操作的文章,由於她的部落格流量不小,也擠進搜尋排序第一頁。

部落客反推薦 廣告代理商關切

幾天後,「迴紋針」接到網路廣告代理商的電話,客氣地探詢能否修改文章內容,但她婉拒了。

不只「迴紋針」,頗具人氣的部落格「草莓起司蛋糕冰淇淋」、「個人意見」也都發文反制,前者諷刺美食部落客將漢堡形容得像「一個八千塊用和牛製作」;後者嘲弄知名部落客心有靈犀,一群人經常同時「心得分享」同一項商品,從SPA、汽車、漢堡到房屋建案。

代言衝出銷量 成本低廉效果大

這是個具體而微的例證,關於部落格的商品化。除了關鍵字廣告及展示式廣告,廣告代理商不斷開發新的商業模式,今年的大熱門是「部落格行銷」,「部落格經濟」儼然成為不景氣下的火紅出路之一。

台灣前五大的「雙向公關」曾操作某一品牌的保養品,由部落客試用推薦,結果銷售量超過目標兩倍,主成分的搜尋筆數高達三十六萬筆。

雙向公關總經理周欣欣表示,由於成本低廉、效果直接,越來越多廣告主能接受部落客代言行銷,在上述案例裡,他們只提供試用品,營造部落客的尊榮感及懸疑感,根本不必付錢給部落客,就能創造龐大的口碑效應。

網名DearJohn的部落客權自強估計,今年約有兩百個「部落客代言」的行銷案,就像去年流行「搜尋引擎關鍵字」,今年「部落格達人」成為廣告圈的熱門配套方案。
收取酬勞撰文 寫作倫理引爭議

越來越多部落客被當成媒體記者,出席商品發表會、免費試用品寄到家、甚至領取每篇文章上萬元的酬勞,或是出書、上電視,部落格經濟大爆發,一方面讓女王、艾瑪、貴婦奈奈等「A咖部落客」可以專心經營部落格;另一方面也挑動寫作倫理的反思。

今年七月,同樣任職網路公司的李怡志與權自強,因為「部落客是否該收費寫文章」、「寫廣告文是否該告知讀者」,而掀起一波網路辯論;李怡志擔心部落客「拿錢手短」,權自強則認為部落格是個人空間,旁人不應置喙。

資深部落客陳豐偉則憂心,廣告主只要付少許預算,就能操縱排序,讓搜尋結果充斥著被收買的文章,這種類似GoogleBomb的人為操作,可能讓Google降低所有部落格的權重排名,整體部落格圈都會受害。

生態文化權力 大家都在摸索期

雖然有不少部落客猛接廣告置入案,部落格圈已發揮一定的自律力量。

原本接寫廣告文的迴紋針,從此拒接美食類型的行銷案;工頭堅等具有影響力的部落客,只要是廠商合作的試用文、付費文,都會在文中註記告知,維繫與讀者之間的互信。

就連支持部落格置入行銷的權自強,也認為應該「盡量教育廣告主,接受部落客誠實揭露」。

除了廣告文章是否應主動揭露,部落格行銷最近也爆出「試用小筆電要簽本票」、「代言相機卻偷拍商品」、「片商試映會對部落客大小眼」等爭議,顯示廠商、公關業者、部落客自身,都在摸索彼此的生態、語言文化與權力關係。

部落客也在適應自己的新身分,當他們被視為一種新媒體,開始聽見點閱人次換算為收銀機的叮噹聲,他們享受景氣嚴冬的難得暖意,同時領受外界的批評、無形規約,及經營壓力。
